Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the official announcement, "An unusual confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine sect.
The adventure centers on "strange trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Transformations
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Additional Material
Players who finish the quest will acquire an special katana alongside multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
