Tehran is prepared to restart atomic discussions with Washington provided that it is treated with "dignity" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

Abbas Araghchi stated exclusively dialogue was effective, and shared recent overtures had originated from go-betweens to restart negotiations with the American leadership. He asserted Iran did not have secret atomic facilities, and Tehran had not yet reached a point to authorize the International Atomic Energy Agency to access bombed nuclear sites for safety concerns.

Navigating a Challenging Course

The foreign minister is treading a difficult course since Iran wishes not to be seen to be acting from a stance of vulnerability, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had emerged stronger militarily and psychologically from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to process nuclear material within its borders that it will always maintain" – the main reason of the impasse in the previous talks.

Earlier Talks Abruptly Ended
